Belle Arnold says you can’t be serious all the time. Sometimes you just have to play.
This exhibition is about Belle playing with materials, shapes and colours. Like life’s experiences, some things are completely new, some are continuations of things already started and others are reworkings of things you thought you’d finished with.
Called Pear Shapes and Other Things, this show includes felted works, woven items, drawings and mixed media.
The exhibition opens at the Pomona Railway Station Gallery in the Carriage Room on Saturday 7 October when Belle invites you for cake and a chat from 11am to 1pm. Show runs to 1 November.
In the gallery’s Banana Shed, Trish Menzies is presenting Essence of Landscapes, a show born of her love and respect for all the environments around us and from a career in landscape architecture over three decades.
The show reflects her fascination with all elements of landscape – botanical details, all-natural settings, and the charm of historic buildings.
“The more I look at landscapes around us, the more colour and play or light shade I see,” says Trish. “It is this I’m currently seeking to capture in my work, be it watercolour, ink or oil on canvas.”
The public is invited to the opening of Essence of Landscapes at 11am on Saturday 30 September. Show runs to 26 October.
Pomona Railway Station Gallery is at 10 Station Street Pomona, open 10am-4pm Tuesday to Friday and 10am to 2pm Saturday and Sunday.
