A muse and a memorial at the Pomona Gallery

The delightful Molly Galpin has turned her creative energy to making dolls of fellow artists for her show, My Doll Muse, at the Pomona Railway Station Gallery.

While she has been a 3D artist for many years, doll-making is a new pursuit for Molly.

“They’re so inspiring, all bringing their own style,” she said.

The dolls are created in mixed media, textiles, clay and recycled materials, lovingly hand-stitched and some painted. Come and meet them face-to-face in the Carriage Room, on show from 4 to 29 June.

Also throughout June, the gallery will host a memorial exhibition of the works of a favourite local artist, the late Yvonne Thompson.

“Life isn’t about finding yourself – life is about creating yourself,” Yvonne once said.

This beautiful exhibition is testament to her creative spirit.

Yvonne started painting landscapes in New Zealand using oils and, after she arrived in Australia in 1970, took up watercolours.

Yvonne said the intention of her works was to capture and reflect the beauty of the Sunshine Coast and celebrate unique moments in time.

In Memory of Yvonne Thompson is on show from 28 May to 22 June.

Pomona Railway Station Gallery is at 10 Station Street Pomona, open 10am-4pm Tuesday to Friday and 10am to 2pm Saturday and Sunday.
