A fusion of art, design and architecture

Comedian and self-proclaimed “design nerd” Tim ‘Rosso’ Ross brings Design Nation, his acclaimed talk to Noosa on 25 May at 2pm.

The performance will take place at Bark Design Architect’s Noosa Hinterland studio, located at 413 Sunrise Rd, Tinbeerwah, as part of this year’s Anywhere Festival.

The festival is one of Queensland’s most vibrant and innovative arts initiatives, taking performances out of traditional theatre spaces and into surprising places.

Design Nation explores the fascinating stories of some of what Tim calls the “invisible icons” of Australian design. From the Stackhat to the iconic Dolphin Torch, Tim uses his trademark wit to ask us to rediscover these ubiquitous, everyday objects of Australian design through previously untold stories, personal anecdotes and design narratives, revealing how our unique design histories have helped shape our national identity.

Bark Design Architects’ co-director Stephen Guthrie said that Bark’s modern, steel and glass pavilion with views over the hinterland to the ocean would provide the ideal setting for the event.

“Bark is thrilled to literally provide the stage and platform for this entertaining and thought-provoking event,” Guthrie said.

“It’s an incredible concept to blend performance art with architectural works of art to create new, surprising and entertaining experiences and to discuss the concept of design and how it informs our culture.

“We are constantly seeking ways for our architecture and design to inspire, connect and amaze people and having Tim in the studio to present Design Nation provides the opportunity to do that. We can’t wait.”

Tickets for the event are $39.95. For more information visit themanaboutthehouse.net/product/design-nation-live-sunshine-coast/.
