The 38th Woodford Folk Festival, Queensland’s iconic celebration of community, arts and culture and food has again drawn thousands of visitors from across Australia and overseas to the truly unique event run from 27 December to 1 January.
For the six day event, the festival’s base, Woodfordia, has been transformed into a vibrant festival environment where cultures, stories and creativity come together displayed through 1600 shows from 450 acts spread across 40 venues.
Queensland Premier David Crisafulli said the festival provided an important platform for local, national and international artists to connect with audiences across a diverse festival program which features music, dance, cabaret, circus, comedy, visual art and design, theatre, discussion and debate.
Festival director Amanda Jackes described Woodfordia as a village that lives for only six days each summer and where “life takes on another rhythm, set by music, story, artistry, and those unexpected kindnesses that stitch us together”.
“We walk its paths on foot, pausing to notice what is around us, and find meaning in small moments,” she said.
“Routine is left at the gate, discovery becomes our way of being.”
