Suncare’s Heartbeat program heads to Caloundra

After a series of booked-out Heartbeat lunches in Gympie, Bundaberg, Rockhampton and Redcliffe, Suncare Community Services is bringing its much-loved Heartbeat Program home to the Sunshine Coast.

The next event will be held at the Caloundra Powerboat Club on Wednesday, 30 October, rounding out Queensland Seniors Month with a celebration of connection, community and joy.

The Heartbeat Program is part of Suncare’s Reinvesting in the Community initiative, designed to reduce social isolation among older Australians by helping people connect, form friendships, and discover new ways to stay active and engaged.

Seniors aged 65 and over, and First Nations people aged 50 and over, are invited to enjoy a free two-course lunch, uplifting entertainment, lucky door prizes, and, most importantly, a warm, welcoming atmosphere where connection comes first. Guests are encouraged to bring a companion of any age.

“We started the Heartbeat Program to bring people together, to create connection, help people out of their homes, and support them to stay in their homes for longer,” a Suncare spokesperson said.

“Human connection is the heartbeat of healthy, happy ageing.”

Feedback from participants has been overwhelmingly positive, with 98 per cent of attendees rating the experience as excellent and many commenting on the new friendships and sense of belonging the events have inspired.

From the laughter over lunch to the stories shared between new friends, the Heartbeat Program continues to prove that connection is not only good for the soul, it’s vital for wellbeing.

Bookings are essential as places fill quickly. To reserve your seat for the Caloundra Heartbeat Lunch, call Suncare on 1800 786 227.
