World’s apart landscape focus

Pomona Railway Station Gallery has a focus on landscape paintings during May, but the artists’ approaches are very different.

Well-known Tewantin artist Tricia Sheppard takes viewers on ‘Outback Tracks’ to enjoy many of her plein air paintings.

“Mountain Creek’s Barbara Mills’ works reflect ‘Landscapes of the Soul’.

Tricia wants her viewers to take a seat and quietly reflect while imagining sitting under her contemporary and abstract gums and taking in her outback and bush experiences. It’s a relatively new path for the artist, who is known for her passion for colour and the sea.

Her exhibition will be officially opened on Saturday, May 3, and runs until May 21. Visitors can meet and chat with Tricia at The Gallery from 10 am-1 pm on Tuesdays, Saturdays, and Sundays during the exhibition.

Barbara Mills says her art reflects both the external world and the inner landscape of the soul.

“I’m motivated by anything that inspires me, including living landscapes with people woven into the scenery or portraits that delve into character and emotion, especially people with captivating eyes that reveal stories beyond words.”

Barbara’s exhibition, also officially opened on Saturday, May 3, runs until May 28.

The volunteer-run Pomona Railway Station Gallery is at 10 Station St, Pomona. Opening hours are 10 am to 4 pm Tuesday to Friday; 10 am to 2 pm Saturday and Sunday.
