Half price double grind mulch

To help residents get a jump on winter garden preparations, council is discounting quality double-grind mulch at the Eumundi Noosa Road Resource Recovery Centre until 4 June.

Mulching gardens ahead of winter helps trap warmth and moisture from the summer months within the soil to support plants during the cooler months.

Quality double-grind mulch is available at half price – $10 per cubic metre – from Council’s Eumundi Noosa Road Resource Recovery Centre from 29 May to 4 June.

When residents make use of the double-grind mulch it supports the recycling of green waste – such as plant and tree clippings – which keeps organic matter out of landfill where it would otherwise produce methane as it breaks down due to anaerobic landfill conditions.

The sustainable mulch product makes great compost to help home veggie gardens thrive.

To help residents with composting and mulching, Council is pleased to host two upcoming free workshops with agricultural scientist and soil microbiology expert, Dr Sandra Tuszynska.

The Beginners Guide to Composting for Raised Garden Beds session at Peregian Beach Veggie Village on Saturday June 3, from 9am to 1pm, is ideal for those just getting started in the garden. Book online – events.humanitix.com/the-beginners-guide-to-composting-for-raised-garden-beds

For advanced composters, attend the Ultimate Guide to Composting for Syntropic Gardens session at Cooroy Community Garden, June 4, 9am to 1pm. Book online at events.humanitix.com/ultimate-guide-to-composting-for-syntropic-gardens

“Whether you have a balcony or acreage, you will learn to implement the soil solution resolution into your own landscape for easy food and forest cultivation,” Dr Tuszynska said.

Both sessions include a presentation and a practical component.

Council’s Resource Recovery Centre is at 561 Eumundi Noosa Road, Doonan. It’s open daily from 7am to 5pm.
