Ironman team gets behind Movember cause

The Ironman Group Oceania has thrown its support behind leading men’s health charity Movember with the organisation’s offices currently filled with questionable moustaches.

The team has embraced the challenge of stepping outside their comfort zones while growing moustaches for the month of November, with the moustache growers also supported by a number of staff who are pounding the pavement to reach some very ambitious running goals.

With just a handful of days left for the 2020 campaign the Ironman team is quickly closing in on its $10,000 fundraising target, with funds supporting the important work that Movember funds, in Australia and around the world.

The Ironman Group’s Regional Director Rob Stalling has led the charge, rallying the troops as they either committed to growing a moustache or running up to 400km in the month.

“As we come towards the end of what has been a challenging year for everybody it’s been great to bring the team together, share a laugh and raise much needed funds for the projects that Movember supports,” Stalling said.

“This year COVID has had an impact on everybody, whether in their professional lives or personally and it’s important to remember to check in on others and look after your health.

“For the Ironman team we faced the challenges of having to cancel a number of events that we are so passionate about putting on each year, and the uncertainty that comes with that,” he said.

“Away from delivering events we also had a staff member recently have his prostate removed which reminded us all that we need to take care of ourselves, and ensure that those around us are doing the same thing.

“We only have a small team but I’m so proud of how they’ve all embraced this movement and have worked hard to raise an impressive amount of money over recent weeks,” he said.

Movember’s Kieran Ryan thanked the Ironman team for their support of the cause.

“It’s incredible to see the team at Ironman pick up the moustache, to rally around it, in support of one of their teammates,” he said.

“They’ve not only started conversations about men’s health internally but also out in their community. We’re grateful for the support of Ironman.“
