Police are investigating the serious assault of a man in Maroochydore on Sunday night, 1 May.
Around 9.15pm at a licenced venue on Duporth Avenue, two men known to each other become involved in a verbal argument which became physical, with one man striking the other in the face causing him to fall to the ground unconscious.
The 44-year-old Maroochydore man sustained serious head injuries and was later transported to Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital where he remains in a critical condition.
Detectives are appealing for witnesses to the incident to come forward.
