Noosa’s albino bush turkey can’t be returned to the wild

Noosa’s well-known albino bush turkey has still not fully recovered after being hit by a car in Hastings St.

Noosa’s well-known albino bush turkey has still not fully recovered after being hit by a car on Saturday 1 June.

The turkey, which gained quite the following as it frequently graced the Hastings Street precinct, was rushed to the RSPCA Wildlife Rehabilitation Centre at Eumundi after it was hit by a car.

RSPCA Queensland spokesperson Michael Beatty said that the turkey is still not doing well as it lost an eye after being run over and has problems with an ear.

“It still has some fairly major issues,” Mr Beatty said.

“It’s not going to be able to go back into the wild as it will no longer be able to fend for itself.

“We’re hoping to relocate the turkey back into a wildlife sanctuary.”
