Triathlon, tunes and festivals

A huge month of sport, music and community celebrations is set to light up the Sunshine Coast in March, with organisers promising one of the busiest and most vibrant event line-ups of the year.

From major endurance racing to beachfront concerts and multicultural festivals, there’s plenty happening across the region to entice both locals and visitors out and about.

One of the standout weekends falls on 14–15 March, when the iconic Mooloolaba Triathlon returns to the heart of Mooloolaba. Thousands of competitors and supporters are expected to line the streets and foreshore for two days of high-energy racing and festivities.

Music lovers won’t miss out either. Aussie favourites Ocean Alley will headline the SummerSalt AUS Coastal 2026 tour at Sunshine Coast Stadium on 15 March, bringing their trademark surf-rock sound and a strong support line-up.

Just next door at Lake Kawana, the Dragon Boat Queensland State Championships will see paddlers from across the state compete from 13–15 March, while those looking for a slower pace can head to the Conscious Life Holistic Wellness Festival at Venue 114.

Motorists are advised that changed traffic conditions will be in place around Mooloolaba during the triathlon weekend, with drivers encouraged to check road updates and allow extra travel time.

Sport continues throughout the month at Sunshine Coast Stadium, including the Queensland Oztag Championships – Senior State Cup (6–8 March) and Hostplus Cup Round 4 featuring the Sunshine Coast Falcons and the Clydesdales on 28 March.

Nambour’s calendar is also brimming, from the ever-popular Collectorama Fair to live music spanning punk, blues, soul and country, along with guest speakers sharing extraordinary travel tales.

In Caloundra, big-name acts such as Baby Animals, DRAPHT and The Smith Street Band are set to perform, while classical and theatre fans can enjoy the Sunshine Coast Symphony Orchestra, a production of Legally Blonde the Musical and concerts featuring Celtic Thunder. Visitors can also take advantage of free two-hour CBD parking.

Mooloolaba will welcome cruise passengers when the Azamara Onward arrives on 6 March, followed by the Seven Seas Mariner on 13 March, delivering more than 1,200 guests combined to explore local beaches, cafés and attractions.

Community spirit will shine through Harmony Week (16–22 March), highlighted by the Harmony Cup football tournament and multicultural events across the region. Kings Beach Amphitheatre will host the Sunshine Coast Pride Network’s Fair Day, celebrating diversity and inclusion.

Other highlights include the Sunshine Coast Chilli & Chocolate Festival at Baringa on 8 March, International Women’s Day events across the region, and the Epic Walk for DV in Maroochydore on 22 March.

Business and industry events are also on the agenda, from creative grant sessions and food industry networking to The BiG Day In Sunshine Coast, designed to connect students with leaders in tech, gaming, cyber security and engineering.

With sport, music, culture and community activities filling the calendar, March is shaping up as a standout month across the Sunshine Coast.
