
At close on counting late on 3 May, Labor had emphatically won another term, Peter Dutton appeared to have lost his seat, Greens were decimated and teals looked to have retained their seats and possibly won some more.
Anthony Albanese was set to return as Prime Minister with Labor winning a landslide majority in its own right.
After weeks of speculation that Labor would form a minority government, forcing it into coalition with the Greens, the result was a convincing win for Labor and Greens looked set to lose most or all of their House of Representative seats.
Only a few seats remained in doubt, according to most analysts
In the Senate, it looked like 28 to Labor, 26 to the Coalition and 11 to the Greens in counting so far.
The correspondng Queensland result appeared to give two seats to Labor, one to the LNP and nothing else decided at this stage of the count.
