COVID-19 Update: April 6

As of April 6, Queensland’s cases have grown by 14 raising the state total to 921 infected.

Unfortunately the state saw another death, raising our current death toll to five.

Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk said this is a reminder of how serious this virus is.

“It goes to show that all of the measures that we’ve been putting in place over the last weeks are having an impact, and we need to make sure that we continue,” Ms Palaszczuk said.

“Sadly though, a fifth Queenslander has died, reminding us again of the seriousness,’ she said.

The current information for the Sunshine Coast indicates there are 84 cases.

Over the weekend, the state was left rattled at the sight of over crowded farmers markets in Brisbane.

Premier Palaszczuk warned that these markets will be closed if people cannot abide by the social distancing rules and regulations.

“On the other hand, it’s disappointing that people have been crowding at open air markets.

“I want to keep fresh food markets open. It is not a chance for an outing, you should only be going to purchase fresh produce, and if you don’t adhere to social distancing, then we will have no choice but to shut those markets.

“I don’t want to do that, so everyone needs to do the right thing, and I am giving my last warning in relation to that,” she said.

This information is the most recent from the state, and will be updated today when it comes to hand.
