Exciting line-up for NOOSA alive! announced

The full program for NOOSA alive! 2019 has been announced, promising an exciting line-up of music, theatre, dance, film, literature, comedy, food and fashion events.

The entertaining performing arts and cultural festival will run for 10 days from Friday 19 July to Sunday 28 July, with highlights including; songbird Sahara Beck, Tim Freedman, The Modern Maori Quartet, journalist Kerry O’Brien in conversation, Australian Poetry Slam, Queensland Ballet, and The Umbilical Brothers.

NOOSA alive! 2019 Producer Tim Loydell said this year’s program really delivers the best of what Noosa arts culture is all about.

“We’ll be showcasing world renowned artists and performers in intimate and inclusive spaces whilst celebrating the breadth and depth of our own local talent and cultural heritage,” he said.

“It really is a program that has something for everyone and it’s a privilege to bring such talent to the region.”

Aside from the myriad of ticketed events, Tim said there are a number of free events sure to be embraced by the community and visitors alike.

“From the Opening Ceremony at Laguna Lookout and heritage walks across the region, through to an exhibition by Raquel Ormell at Noosa Regional Gallery, and the Fire In The Sky event – there’s a wealth of terrific community events for all to enjoy,” Tim said.

NOOSA alive! 2019 builds on the legacy established by its founding members including current patrons, David and Kristen Williamson who, for over 15 years, have brought the best of the performance world to Noosa.

The hub of NOOSA alive! 2019, The J Theatre will host the Opening Night event with Modern Māori Quartet and their show That’s Us!. It’s also the venue to catch performances by songwriter supremo Tim Freedman; bombshell Sahara Beck; award-winning cabaret star Michaela Burger with the Queensland premiere of A Migrant’s Son; six-piece voice group GANZ A Capella direct from Berlin; comedic royalty The Umbilical Brothers; and the incomparable Queensland Ballet.

Noosa Arts Theatre is the perfect venue for the One-Act Play Festival (held on the opening weekend); along with a host of other events throughout the week including contemporary Indigenous dance with Thomas E.S. Kelly’s (MIS)CONCEIVE; the Australian Poetry Slam spoken word competition; a literary showcase and book launch by Shelley Davidow; and OPERA FUNK with Emma Bridget Tomlinson.

A 2019 festival highlight is sure to be Kerry O’Brien In Conversation over a special two-course plated luncheon from View by Matt Golinski. Another feast for the senses will be Slow Food with Film – Chocolat, which will see Matt Golinski team up with chefs Aden Moriarty from Noosa Springs and Lisa Mahar from Makepeace Island to create a three-course taste sensation. Fashionistas will be wowed by the MORPHE NOOSA event at Noosa Regional Gallery – an avant-garde immersion of hair, art, fashion and food; while music-lovers will delight in a special performance by Noosa Orchestra conducted by maestro Antoni Bonetti.
