In 2019 Sustainable Noosa Everglades tour operator, Kanu Kapers, launched a carbon offset scheme to raise money for koala habitat.
To date their guests have raised a whopping $2,300 and donations are set to soar.
Kanu Kapers have calculated that a return 58km journey to Noosa emits roughly the same amount of carbon as a tree processes in a year.
A tree costs local Koala charity, Queensland Koala Crusaders, $10 to plant and maintain for koala habitat, so Kanu Kapers ask for a $10 donation per car.
As no one carries much cash for donations anymore, Kanu Kapers have now added a donation option at checkout on their website, meaning that it’s now even easier for guests to donate to help koalas.
