The Sunshine Coast-based LifeFlight aeromedical crew found a stranded sailor off North Stradbroke Island on Monday morning, 7 April.
The rescue helicopter was tasked at 4:40am to search for the man after he set off a distress alarm.
He was spotted sitting on top of his overturned vessel approximately 3.5 nautical miles offshore.
A fisherman nearby responded to a request for help from the Australian Maritime Safety Authority (AMSA) and helped the man onto his boat before taking him to shore.
Community members then drove the man to the LifeFlight helicopter, which had landed in a nearby grassy area.
The man, aged in his 50s, was in good spirits and did not need medical transport after being assessed by the Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) flight paramedic.
Queensland Police Service (QPS) officers helped the man off the island to get back home.
