Respected Noosa law firm changes hands

Maroochydore based Spire Law has merged with long established Noosa and Cooroy-based Sykes Pearson & Miller (SPM) legal practice.

Spire Law director Glen Carpenter said he was pleased to be able to partner with such a reputable law firm that has a long and proud history dating back 100 years servicing the local community.

“SPM is an incredible practice with deep roots in the local community and it’s important that we acknowledge the legacy created by former director Michael Sobey prior to his passing in February this year.”

“Michael was involved in the firm for over 23 years and built it to a point where it has become the leading law firm in Noosa which is very well connected within the community in both work and community by supporting many sporting clubs and charities.

“Michael’s son, Nicholas, was admitted as a solicitor in 2020 and works in the practice.

“It’s a tremendous legacy and we certainly feel a strong obligation to continue the high quality of work SPM have delivered over the years. We will also continue all current sponsorship commitments to organisations within the Noosa and Cooroy communities and we will look to build new relationships as we embed ourselves in the local community,” Glen said.

Glen said he was committed to a business as usual approach at SPM Law with all current legal services continuing and adding additional services including family law, building and construction, insolvency, litigation and dispute resolution services.

“We will continue to have a strong and experienced team working from both the Noosa and Cooroy offices, some of whom have been with us for more than 20 years.

“In addition to this, Sophie Paras has returned to SPM after working as a lawyer with Sunshine Coast Council for almost 10 years. Sophie has more than 20 years’ experience as a commercial, property and wills and estates lawyer.

“Across the group our lawyers have a combined experience in excess of 120 years,” Glen said.
