Council spreads Christmas cheer

“It’s such an uplifting event for our community,” declared Noosa Mayor Clare Stewart as she and the other councillors hit the streets this week to be a part of this year’s Connecting Noosa Christmas Convoy.

Over four afternoons, a convoy of emergency service vehicles, council Local Laws vehicles and a special truck carrying Santa weaved its way through the streets of Noosa.

“It’s about spreading the festive fun but also an opportunity to thank our emergency services who do a tremendous job throughout the year,” community development manager Alison Hamblin said.

The convoy started in Boreen Point and Cooroibah on Monday night 6 December and also took in Kin Kin, Cooran, Pomona, Cooroy, Tewantin and Noosaville.

The convoy culminated on Thursday 9 December with visits to the beachside suburbs of Peregian, Castaways and Sunrise Beach and Hastings Street.

“We also made special stops at a number of aged care facilities, which were well received,” Ms Hamblin said.

Noosa Police Acting Inspector Ben Carroll said it was a wonderful way to celebrate Christmas with the community.

The event is funded by Noosa Council with the corporate support of HOT91 and the Madill Motor Group.
