Island holiday ends in rescue

LifeFlight rescue a boy on Moreton island.

The RACQ LifeFlight Rescue Sunshine Coast helicopter crew has airlifted a teenage boy to hospital, after he was injured in a skimboarding accident.

The rescue crew was sent to a Moreton Bay island shortly after 3pm on Saturday, where the pilot was able to land the chopper on a helipad near a resort on the island.

The aeromedical crew worked with Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) paramedics to stabilise the boy, who had suffered a suspected broken leg, before flying him to Queensland Children’s Hospital for further treatment.
