CWA help homeless

The Tewantin-Noosa Branch of the Country Women’s Association fed hungry school children, Council staff and passing construction workers with delicious and nutritious baked goods displayed beautifully outside CWA Hall in Tewantin last week.

“Craft items such as handmade tea towels, knitted blankets and baby clothes alongside embroidered toilet roll dolls and coat hangers made a colourful array on an overcast morning where clouds threatened but couldn’t stop the long-standing and popular local tradition going ahead,” CWA vice-president Leigh McCready said.

“Several times each year, local CWA members hold stalls to raise money for local charities, with this stall’s proceeds of $818 going to Campsite Rescue, a charitable humanitarian organisation that provides basic needs to the homeless the vulnerable and at-risk families on the Sunshine Coast.”

“We’d love to welcome new members who are interested in joining us the Tewantin-Noosa CWA at our monthly meetings on the third Wednesday of the month at 1pm, but we are also looking to offer social events to connect working women after hours.”

“We also have weekly craft sessions on Thursday mornings from 9am at the Hall, where women of any experience level can bring a project along and receive tips or assist other women become more skilled.“ For further information visit www.facebook.com/CWATewantin.
