Thrilling contests for Dolphin juniors

U14s Dolphins vs Saints

The U14s came out firing against Saints at Caloundra. In a hard-fought and impressive game, the Dolphins’ defence was well-drilled, with plenty of technically strong rugby on display.

Both teams gave it their all, as reflected in the 12–12 score at half-time, then 24–24 with one play remaining. Unfortunately, the final play resulted in a try for the Saints, with the final score being Saints 29 – Dolphins 24.

The 2025 season looks promising for the U14s, with Ro Ramsden joining coaches Ben and Frankie to form a highly experienced leadership group for the boys.

Domino’s Player of the Match went to Sidney for his outstanding presence, skilled dominance at number 10, and being a significant threat to the opposition.

U13s Dolphins vs University

With the sun beaming and the rain holding off, the Noosa Dolphins U13s travelled south to face Sunshine Coast University on neutral territory at the lush grounds of Matthew Flinders.

The Dolphins’ coaches knew it was going to be a forwards-dominant game, with Uni fielding a powerful, hard-running pack. Noosa secured the first try in the corner, but University responded quickly with a try under the posts. The spectators were treated to a thrilling contest, with the crowd cheering each breakaway.

But in the final two minutes, the Dolphins forwards rose to the challenge, sealing the match with a late try.

Domino’s Player of the Match: Lennox

Final Score: Noosa 27 – University 14

U12 Dolphins vs Grammar

The U12 Dolphins faced a tough Grammar side in a thrilling contest. Early on, Jake and Alyx combined for a brilliant try-saving tackle on Grammar’s powerhouse forward, with Evan also putting in a strong defensive work. Despite their efforts, Grammar crossed in the corner, slipping through Ben’s tackle.

The Dolphins’ forward pack showed strength with a dominant scrum and push. Emerson sparked the attack with a half-field break, followed by a ball steal from Ben and Eddie. Harvey took a quick penalty and surged forward, setting up Sol’s sideline break and Emerson’s try under the posts. With the conversion missed, the scores were level at 5–5. Grammar hit back to lead 5–12.

In the second half, a combined effort brought down Grammar’s big runner. Grammar responded. But Emerson’s try in the corner on full-time, followed by Ben’s conversion, sealed a 24–22 comeback victory for the Dolphins. Domino’s Player of the Match: Emerson.

U8s Dolphins vs Matthew Flinders Round 1

Playing Flinders away with a last-minute field change, the team ran on through the Noosa tunnel with confidence and enthusiasm. Buster opened the scoring with a blistering run the length of the field: his pace and precision were no match for the defence. Hudson quickly followed up with another try, and Otis rounded out the scoring.

The half-time message was to share the ball and focus on passing. Owen showed strong commitment, consistently getting back into the line to stop the overlap. Alfie made some hard, direct runs up through the middle, while Gus responded well to team direction. Hemi was strong in the midfield.

Jackson anchored the front row, showing great strength.

Domino’s Player of the Match went to Hudson.

Dolphins Junior Girls Round 1 vs Brothers

Our Junior Girls launched their season this past Friday night, hosted by USC. They faced two strong Brothers sides, and while the scoreboard wasn’t the focus, the smiles on the faces of coaches and spectators said it all.

From the opening whistle, it was clear our girls were eager to learn and embrace the game. As the night progressed, their confidence grew. By the end, they were stringing together multiple phases and pushing upfield with impressive line breaks. The girls capped it all off with our first try of the season.
