Third time president

Popular past president, Geoff Bailue, became president of the Tewantin Noosa Probus Club for the third time on 1 April.

“Why not?” asks retiring president, Joan Page. “Geoff is young, energetic and has great leadership skills. He is not afraid of a microphone and he has great empathy with our older members.”

“When I retired in 2015, Geoff became president for the first time having served as my vice president.” Christine Hartley added.

“I first met Geoff when he came to our club as a guest speaker. He is a gifted communicator with a fascinating story to tell. He has worked as an Air Traffic Controller in many countries including the Middle East where codes of cultural conduct differ so greatly to our own.

Living and working in the Middle East certainly presented a mix of issues to deal with on a daily basis, particularly for my wife, Linda, and her daughter,” Geoff said.

“A move to Switzerland as an air traffic control manager provided a lifestyle in total contrast to that of the Middle East. It was while I was in Switzerland that I witnessed a catastrophic aviation incident, I felt compelled to share with anyone interested.

I enjoyed sharing my story with the members of the Tewantin Noosa Probus Club so much that I decided to join the club. I have since forged great friendships with many club members. I love socialising with them at our regular gatherings.

Probus is a great organisation for retired and semi-retired people. Friendship, fellowship and fun are the keystones of the organisation. During my tenure as President, my emphasis will very much be focussed on the fun aspect.

For anyone seeking friendship and new interests in a warm and caring environment, I’d thoroughly recommend they consider joining Probus.
