Garden ready for growth

Noosa’s community garden has recently been relocated to Wallace Park with the group calling on the community to come and visit it in its new location.

“We have been working tirelessly on establishing the garden with help from the students from the Australian Industry Trade College,” spokeswoman Erika Hackett said. “Many tasks have been accomplished mowing the lawns, distributing mulch around garden beds, new wicking beds built, blueberry beds completed, straw bales in place ready for seasoning, new compost bins built and a heap more.

“These students have been amazing coming week after week to help out in all kinds of soggy weather. It’s a good thing they are young as they don’t seem to mind getting wet or muddy.”

The New Noosa Community Garden is located at Wallace Park next door to the Library, Leisure Centre, Parks Association, Meals on Wheels and Noosa Community Services.

The group gardens every Friday from 8-11am, no experience necessary. Go along and learn, there will be harvest at the end of the day which is shared by all. “We’re a friendly group and happy to share a cuppa with you at the end of our gardening session,” Erika said.

For more information visit Noosa Community Garden on Facebook or phone the president June Copeman on 0412 384 848.
