Police are investigating after an attempted break-in left an ATM damaged at Noosa Junction over the weekend.
Officers were called to Lanyana Way about 7.30am on Saturday 8 March following reports someone had tried to force entry into an ATM.
A Queensland Police Service spokesperson said the machine sustained significant damage during the attempted theft.
“Police are investigating after an ATM at Noosa Junction was damaged between 7 and 8 March,” the spokesperson said.
“Initial investigations indicate the offender was unable to gain access to any cash within the machine.”
The incident occurred in one of Noosa’s busiest retail and dining precincts, with the damaged machine discovered when businesses began opening on Saturday morning.
Police are continuing to make enquiries and are urging anyone who may have seen suspicious activity in the area during the overnight period to come forward.
Investigators are particularly interested in speaking with anyone who may have CCTV, dashcam or other video footage from the area around Lanyana Way between the evening of 7 March and early morning on 8 March.
Anyone with information is urged to contact police or provide details through Crime Stoppers.
