Radio star raises awareness for Walk for Women’s Cancers

Cancer Council Queensland has announced breakfast host Heidi Latcham from 91.9 Sea FM as an ambassador for this year’s Sunshine Coast Walk for Women’s Cancers event.

As an ambassador Heidi will be raising awareness of the 15th annual family-friendly fun walk, which will be held on Sunday 15 September.

Heidi said she felt honoured to be the ambassador and was excited to attend the Cancer Council Queensland event.

“It is incredibly special to me to have been given the opportunity to support the local community,” she said.

“Walk for Women’s Cancers is a fantastic reason for the community to come together and support a good cause, while getting active at the same time.

“The walk is located at one of my favourite spots on the Sunshine Coast.

“It is going to be a beautiful walk along the water on the day.”

Heidi recently moved back to the Sunshine Coast this year and is very happy to be living in her hometown.

“It is so fantastic to be back in my hometown and I am so excited to be the ambassador for this year’s Walk for Women’s Cancers,” she said.

“I am really looking forward to meeting lots of new people from the community on the day and hearing their stories.”

Cancer Council Queensland CEO Ms Chris McMillan said the charity was delighted to have Heidi on board as the ambassador of the Sunshine Coast Walk for Women’s Cancers.

“Sadly one in six women who will be diagnosed with a breast or gynaecological cancer in their lifetime,” she said.

“Join Heidi at this year at Walk for Women’s Cancers and help us raise funds so we can ensure the women we love have a cancer free future.”

The event will see local women, men and children, dressed in pink, come together at Alex Skate Park in Alexandra Headland on Sunday 15 September at 8am and participate in either a 3km or 6km from to raise funds for Cancer Council Queensland’s work in women’s cancers.
