Noosa shines bright at Mumbrella awards

Tourism Noosa won the Mumbrella Award for Sustainable Practices at the 2022 Mumbrella Awards, Australia’s most prestigious media and marketing awards.

With over 800 marketing professionals in attendance, the awards aim to recognise the must-know brands and campaigns with 30 awards handed out to the best talent and innovators across Australia and New Zealand’s marketing, advertising, media, production, PR and communication industries.

Tourism Noosa chief executive officer Melanie Anderson said, “We are thrilled to win this award which is truly a showcase of the many environmental and sustainability programs, activities and principles that Tourism Noosa runs and abides by.

“The awards are a great acknowledgement of our partnership and close collaboration with key stakeholders including Noosa Council, Noosa & District Landcare, the Department of Environment & Science, Queensland Parks & Wildlife, Noosa Biosphere Reserve Foundation, Noosa Integrated Catchment Association, Noosa Parks Association, Zero Emissions Noosa, the Noosa World Surfing Reserve and the incredible environmental leading tourism industry members that we have here in Noosa.“

Juanita Terry-Bloomfield, head of sustainability and program design for Tourism Noosa said, “It was wonderful to be acknowledged for our Plastic Free Noosa program, Trees for Tourism and our Sustainable Events Criteria.“

“Other sustainability programs and initiatives within the awards submission included Welcome to Noosa, Noosa Eco Check, Noosa Commercial Composting Trial and Tourism Noosa’s support of the Noosa Biosphere Koala Gala.

“The Kabi Kabi digital installation at the Visitor Information Centre was also highlighted as a showcase of the connection with First Nations people with the land and waters of the Noosa region.

“It was great to hear the judges acknowledge that this was a grassroots, community focused, environmental campaign approach with direct evidence of making a difference.

“The panel of judges expressed amazement at the fact that it was incredible that all of the that all the development, design and marketing has been done in-house.“

Tourism Noosa head of marketing Adam Townson said, “This award is a celebration of the environment and making the green travel message intrinsic in the voice and brand of Noosa.“

“We are delighted that we won the Australia and New Zealand award for Sustainable Practices against finalists in this category including leading national top-tier brands Unilever, OzHarvest, UNICEF and Yarra Valley Water.“
