Travel industry bounces back

A Noosa travel agency said they have “never been busier” as the community regain their confidence in booking international travel.

With international borders being closed in March 2020, the travel industry was hit extremely hard during the pandemic, as their primary source of income vanished overnight.

After 12 months of the Gregor & Lewis Bespoke Travel team working remotely from home, owner and managing director Melinda Gregor said she was excited to announce their return to an office in Noosa Junction.

“With the international border now open for New South Wales and Victoria, and hopefully Queensland not too far behind, this has given our clients confidence to start booking international travel again for 2022, 2023 and beyond,” Ms Gregor said.

“Since moving back in to an office just a few weeks ago, coinciding with the announcement of the plan for re-opening of Queensland, we have never been busier.

“The most popular destinations are The Kimberley domestically, and Japan, Alaska and Europe for international holidays, as well as flights to UK, South Africa and USA, for our clients to visit relatives they haven’t seen for almost two years.

“We have found it is not only our existing clients booking with us, but we are getting many referrals as well as many new clients, as travelling post Covid-19 will be a different experience, and you need to ensure you are across all the entry requirements of each country you visit.”

Ms Gregor said they had to change their focus during the pandemic to survive during such a tough period for the travel industry.

“As a business we pivoted to focus on the domestic market,” she said.

“We have such a beautiful and unique country, and our team put together some amazing trips for our clients exploring all reaches of Australia.”

Gregor & Lewis Bespoke Travel’s new office is located at 4/16 Lanyana Way, Noosa Heads.
