New app gives Aussie mums the support they need after a C-Section

April marks C-Section Awareness Month, and with one in three babies in Australia now born via caesarean, it’s never been more important to support women through safe and informed recovery.

That’s why Sunshine Coast maternity brand Belly Bands has developed the Heal Better App, a complimentary, medically-reviewed tool designed to help women recover safely and confidently after a C-section or other abdominal surgery.

Belly Bands and Heal Better general manager Sandie Brunswick said, “Recovering from a caesarean isn’t just about resting.”

“There are specific movements, strategies, and warning signs that women need to understand to heal well and avoid complications, but this information can be hard to access, especially during those early days after birth. We created the Heal Better App to make it easier.”

“We know mums will always put their baby’s needs first, that’s just what they do. But we’re here to take care of the mums. In those early days when they’re sore, tired, and bombarded with conflicting or unhelpful advice, the Heal Better App is a quiet, reassuring voice they can turn to. It’s everything they need, right there in their hand, backed by research and medical approval.”

Most people don’t know that a caesarean is a major abdominal surgery, cutting through several layers of tissue and muscle. Recovery can take six to eight weeks or longer.

“We want women to feel informed, confident, and supported in their healing, not left to figure it out alone,” Ms Brunswick said.

“The Heal Better App is our way of making expert recovery advice more widely available.”
