Teenager injured after hitting her head on Noosa River sandback

A teenager has been airlifted to hospital with suspected back and neck injuries after striking her head on a sandbank in Noosa River.

The Sunshine Coast-based LifeFlight aeromedical crew was tasked to the scene near the mouth of the Noosa River at 4:20pm on Sunday 13 April.

She was taken to shore where the LifeFlight critical care doctor and Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) flight paramedic together with local QAS paramedics treated the girl for her injuries.

The teenager was airlifted to Princess Alexandra Hospital for further treatment.
