Writing award for Cooroy student

Cooroy Genealogical group president Tom Heitman presented the writing award to year 6 graduate Scarlett Young.

The Laraine Mahoney Memorial Writing Award for this year was given to Scarlett Young at the Cooroy State School year six graduation ceremony.

This prize is awarded each year to a Cooroy student who is graduating from primary school and who has demonstrated outstanding writing ability across the school year.

The award, including prize money and a trophy, was established in memory of Laraine Mahoney who passed away in 2018.

She had been a teacher at Cooroy School and was an advocate for literacy.

It is awarded annually by Cooroy-Noosa Genealogical and Historical Research Group in association with the Cooroy Book Club and the Cooroy State School.
