Expressions of interest open for volunteer grants

Federal Wide Bay MP Llew O’Brien has invited local volunteer groups to apply for funding from this year’s Federal Government Volunteer Grants program.

“Volunteers make a significant social and economic contribution to local communities and help make the lives of others a little bit easier,” Mr O’Brien said.

The Volunteer Grants Program provides grants of between $1000 to $5000 to eligible not-for-profit organisations to:

• Purchase portable, tangible, small equipment items to help their volunteers.

• Contribute to the reimbursement of fuel costs for volunteers.

• Promote volunteering opportunities.

• Contribute to the reimbursement of transport costs incurred by volunteers with disability.

• Contribute to the cost of training courses and/or undertake background screening checks for their volunteers.

To be nominated to receive a Volunteer Grant you must lodge an Expression of Interest.

To receive an Expression of Interest and Grant Opportunity Guidelines on the 2022 Volunteer Grants program, volunteer groups are encouraged to phone Mr O’Brien’s office on 4121 2936, or email llew.obrien.mp@aph.gov.au

Nominations close on Friday 16 September.

“Every volunteer’s contribution, no matter how big or small, is extraordinary because that person cares enough to serve their community and give of their time, expertise and resources freely to improve the lives of others. Wide Bay communities would not be the same without them,” Mr O’Brien said.
