Election Day will go ahead on March 28

Election Day is still set to go ahead Saturday 28 March, according to Noosa Council.

A briefing between the Electoral Commission Queensland and State Government this morning confirmed that the election will go ahead as planned, however there may be changes to how the polling boots are managed.

Applications for postal voting closes strictly tonight, 7pm March 16.

Early voting is however now open until 27 March, for residents of the Noosa Shire early polling boots can be found at Cooroy Uniting Church Hall and 6 Swanbourne Way, Noosaville.

“The ECQ has informed us that local government elections will continue, although there may be some slight changes to how polling booths operate in light of the pandemic.

“Time is running out for those who wish to lodge a postal vote for the March 28 local government elections, with the ECQ declaring it cannot extend today’s (Monday) 7pm deadline,” Mayor Tony Wellington said.

“While pencils will be available at polling booths, the ECQ is now recommending that voters bring their own pen or pencil.”

For detailed information about the voting process, visit the Electoral Commission Queensland website, Noosa Council has no direct involvement in the election.
