Social ride to kick off Wondai horse club

A social horse ride at Wondai on Sunday, 24 March, will be the first of many for the newly-formed Dingo Creek Endurance and Community Association.

The ride will enable participants to see the beauty of the Wondai State Forestry and meet up with like-minded people within the community.

Club member Virginia Barber said the series of social rides would serve as lead-ins to the inaugural Wondai Endurance Ride on 21-22 September.

These rides of 80km, 40km and 20km will form part of the Queensland Endurance Riders Association (QERA) calendar for 2024.

The social ride this month will include a membership information session and sign-on at Wondai Showgrounds at 12pm on Sunday, 24 March.

A social dinner on Saturday, 23 March, will be held at Wondai Hotel at 7pm.

This dinner is open to all wanting to know more about the club, endurance and events that will be held in the area. Bookings are essential.

The 20km social ride on the Sunday will leave the showgrounds at 1pm and is expected to take three hours.

The terrain will comprise long hills and be slightly rocky underfoot. It is recommended that shoes or boots be fitted for horses.

Camping and stables will be available at the showgrounds.

To learn more contact Dingo Creek Endurance and Community Association on 0493 185 615 or 0418 982 174.
