Gymnast girls set for contest

The girls program at the Cooroy Gymnastics Club is preparing for their first event for 2022.

After two years of disrupted training due to Covid lockdowns and floods, numbers within the club’s competitive program have grown and are stronger than ever.

This year the club will have the greatest number of level 3 and over WAG gymnasts in more than 10 years.

The girls will be performing at the upcoming Sunshine Coast Classic hosted by the Sunshine Coast Gymnastics Academy in Woombye on 28 and 29 May followed by the Maroochy Beach invitational a week later.

The events will be hotly contested with clubs coming from Brisbane, Sunshine Coast and the Wide Bay Burnett regions to compete in the hope of qualifying for the Queensland Junior State Championships to be held

in Brisbane in September later this year.
