Wet weather set to return later this week

Storms and showers are expected to return to the South East starting Wednesday February 19, as a surface trough over the interior of the state is expected trigger showers and thunderstorms. These thunderstorms could become severe according to the Bureau of Meteorology, these will kick off from Wednesday into the weekend.BOM forecaster Kimba Wong said that a weather event similar to last week could reoccur due to an atmospheric pattern.”This coming Wednesday there is a chance of some severe storms around the southeast, so there is potential for some damaging winds and potential heavy rainfall with those storms,” Ms Wong said.

Ms Wong said that though this rain event may not be as prolonged or intense as last week, it still comes with the chance of rainfall totals reaching 50-100mm in some areas.
