River encroaches on popular walkway

The river edges close to a park bench on Gympie Terrace.

Residents have raised concerns about the threat to much-used public facilities along the Noosa River foreshore on Gympie Terrace from erosion of the river bank.

One resident said one bench looked on the brink of toppling into the river and at one point the river was lapping under the walkway used by hundreds of people each day.

A Noosa Council spokesman said Council was monitoring the erosion issue in the area, however at this stage, there were no approved plans for infrastructure or changes to the foreshore.

“Council is investigating potential options to develop a more detailed plan for the future,” he said.
