Meet Chad Burgess, Pauline Hanson’s One Nation Party

What is your Background

My background is in Aged Care. I work as an Administration Officer at one of the main Home Maintenance Providers in the Wide Bay area. Before that I studied business, receiving a Bachelor of Business Marketing, Minoring in Tourism, Leisure & Event Management from the University of Sunshine Coast. I also have a Master of Business (Leadership) from the University of Queensland.

Why do you think you would be a good candidate to represent the seat of Wide Bay?

People often describe me as someone who is easy to talk to about their problems. They also like the fact that I do not cause any hassle or drama when they are seeking help. None of the runaround or false promises. I never make a promise I cannot keep, can you say the same about the other candidates? Are they able to keep every promise they make?

If elected, what would you do to address the following issues?

Health services

Our health services are struggling. There is no doubt of this, no matter how much we try to put it out of our mind. There needs to be comprehensive reform of Medicare. One Nation will strengthen Medicare through increasing rebates for GPS, support clinics, and crackdown on fraud and rorting by introducing mandatory photo ID for Medicare cards and ensuring Medicare is properly resources to investigate and prevent fraudulent claims.

Cost of Living

The cost of living can best be addressed by firstly reducing cost of electricity. One Nation will slash electricity bills for homes and businesses by 20% immediately. This is achieved by changing the National Electricity Market (NEM) of the price of energy produced from coal is not artificially inflated.

Immigration and border control

Secondly, reforming Australia’s immigration system. Housing and our infrastructure is barely able to cope, and homelessness is on the rise as a direct result of out-of-control immigration. One Nation will deport 75,000 illegal immigrants, cut immigration by over 570,000 people from current Labor levels by capping visas at 130,000 per year to ease pressure on housing, wages, and infrastructure.

Electricity price

Addressing electricity and immigration will have an immediate positive impact on the cost of living.

National roads and rail infrastructure

Lastly, when it comes to national roads and rail infrastructure, I will ensure appropriate levels of funding are addressed to the backlog of maintenance and development of our road and rail networks here in Wide Bay. I would also like to prioritise infrastructure projects that improve connectivity between regional areas and transport hubs, creating efficient export paths and supply chains for national and international trade.

This is just the tip of the iceberg of what One Nation and I have planned for Noosa, Wide Bay and Australia as a whole.
