Women United in WINDO’s 20/20 Vision Festival

International Women’s Week 20/20 Vision Festival.

Young performers alongside professional entertainers and speakers are gathering to celebrate the diversity of women and to enhance a greater sense of community as they perform together at the ‘Women Initiating New Directions Organisation’ (WINDO) Inc variety show entitled ‘The Only Way is Up’

“This is truly a community collaborative event as we bring together a plethora of talent from the two districts of Noosa and Gympie.” Jeanette Dal Santo -Founder and President of WINDO explained.

Entertainers from the Noosa district will travel and perform at the Gympie Civic Centre March 13 at 7.30pm.

Jannali Shorey and Seisia Dougharty Noosa based cousins who just love to dance, both girls hold their own unique professional style, both commenced dancing as tiny tots and just knew at a very early age dance was their passion.

Their relationship not only is a genuine appreciation for each other but a close-nit bond of shared interest and a desire to make dance their vocations.

Jannali and Seisia students of Noosa Professional Dance Academy have just returned from the World titles dance competition in Bangkok.

Their team have gained world champion status across three dance forms which included Contemporary, Jazz and Lyrical, they were the highest scoring group and won the Grand World Champions Award.

Greg Huglin Noosa Film Academy director the successful cinematographer, director and producer will be a guest speaker at this event, his numerous awards include: Academy Award ‘The Cove’ – best documentary, ‘In Quest of the Sun’ – silver medallist Cannes Film Festival. Greg will delight you with an insight into his world and some of the women who have influenced his life.

Lara-Jane Stewart is a singer, song-writer, mother and artist, her original songs are a fusion of folk, alt. country, Americana.“I want to give people music that wakes them up, takes them inside their hearts, inside other people’s hearts and leaves them feeling more alive and more connected on the other side of the whole experience,“ Lara-Jane said.

Emma Thomlinson singer and artist. Emma describes herself as “being different makes a difference.“

Emma has performed in her very own concert ‘Opera Funk’.

Emma’s many talents stretch into visual arts and her artwork has been on the front covers of Noosa Life Magazine and Noosa Magazine Emma aspires to assist young men and women to find their path and passion to become what they want to be.

Cora Ledwith a young Noosa-based performer is going places as songstress, actor and dancer. Cora was awarded 1 st place in the grand Final of ‘Take the Mic’. Cora took that mic with both hands and

wowed the judges.

This win gave Cora the opportunity for her first professional recording entitled ‘Made This Way’.

What better event is there than International Women’s week with its empowering themes for women and young girls to celebrate their distinctive qualities for Cora to premier her first

recording ‘Made This Way’.

Olivia Hunt Another young inspiring performer joins the Noosa troupe at these celebrations.

At the tender age of seven Olivia commenced her solo career, her awards are versatile and numerous.

First place at ‘Get the Beat’ Gympie and Sunny Coast and top 5 teen soloist overall in the Queensland Dance Festival, first place Future Stars HC contemporary choreography and by teaching her own choreography to her peers Olivia received the ‘Creative Risk Taking’ award for dance at the St. Teresa College Arts Night. When selected to model in the Australia Runway Show Olivia has added another string to her bow for a career in dance and modelling.

‘Behind the Art – Behind the Fence’ The International Women’s Week Art Q&A Art Chat featuring Lorissa Manners and acclaimed artist Jandamarra Cadd will discuss their thoughts as citizens and artists on the global issues of displacement and implications to faith, culture integration and community detention. The future directions of the stolen generation. The humanitarian response to the refugee crises and media responsibility, March 12 at 10.30am at Cooroy Butter Factory Arts Centre.
