Big win for Sunrise Beach man

A Sunrise Beach man says he is “a very happy man” after pocketing $200,000 in Wednesday’s Lucky Lotteries Mega Jackpot draw.

The Sunshine Coast resident held the first prize winning entry in draw 1769, drawn on 18 February 2026, securing the tidy six-figure sum.

Speaking after receiving the life-changing phone call from lottery officials at The Lott, the long-time player said it was news he would never forget.

“This is honestly the best phone call I’ve ever received,” he said.

“I’ve been playing Lucky Lotteries since I was 18 years old.

“I’ve had a few $1,000 wins here and there, but this is on a whole other level.”

The coastal winner revealed the windfall would allow him to spend more time enjoying the region’s waterways — with a long-considered purchase finally within reach.

“I’ve been thinking about buying a surf ski for a couple of years and I’ll finally do it,” he said.

The Sunrise Beach local also plans to share the joy with his family.

“I’ll also help out my adult children. I’ll be able to bring a smile to their faces when I surprise them.”

His winning entry of one number was purchased online via The Lott app.

Lucky Lotteries Mega Jackpot is a raffle-style game with a set number of tickets in each draw, meaning every ticket number is unique and prizes are not shared. Each draw includes two components — one to determine the winning numbers and another to determine the jackpot number. If the jackpot number matches one of the winning numbers, the jackpot prize is won; if not, it rolls over to the next draw.

Following Wednesday’s win, the Lucky Lotteries Mega Jackpot prize has climbed to more than $25 million for draw 1770. The Lucky Lotteries Super Jackpot prize now sits at just over $1 million for its next draw.

Last financial year, Australia’s official lotteries contributed more than $1.66 billion in state lottery taxes and donations to community initiatives including hospitals, health research, disaster relief and education.
