Clarity required on public health directions

Noosa Council is seeking the urgent release of the Public Health Directions, regarding the specific rules which will underpin the State’s planned unvaccinated restrictions on Council’s workforce, local business, tourism operators and the wider Noosa community.

Mayor Clare Stewart acknowledged the intent of the State Government’s plan, but said it was very difficult for businesses to make workable plans with the limited information provided.

“Our business community is increasingly concerned at the expectations placed on them and the adverse impact these proposed conditions could have on the local economic recovery,” she said.

“How will the new measures be enforced, how do operators monitor the situation.

“We need those details to provide a level of comfort and allow us to answer the questions from the community,” the Mayor said.

Council is assessing all its facilities and services to develop an operational plan to respond to the Queensland Government’s roadmap.

“We certainly appreciate the challenging situation the State Government faces, but our community needs clear guidance as soon as possible,” Cr Stewart said.
