Risk of wet paws quietens walk

Rain put a dampener on the RSPCA Million Paws Walk on Sunday with only about a quarter of the usual numbers braving the wet conditions at the Lions Park at Noosaville.

RSPCA Noosa manager Nicole Cleary said it was a disappointing outcome but she was pleased at the number of people who made the effort.

She said their presence would raise awareness of the work of the RSPCA and raise money toward their work to prevent cruelty against animals.

Stall holders at the event highlighted various aspects of pet care. Veterinary nurse Donna Stevens spread an awareness of Noosa’s after hours Animal Emergency Clinic (AEC). Located at Greencross pets at Noosa Civic shopping centre the AEC opened about 18 months ago to provide critical care to pets on weekends and public holidays.

And for the first time this year RSPCA Noosa ran a second walk along the waterfront at Coolum Beach.
