Noosa Councillor charged with indecent treatment of a child

The on-going court case relating to charges against Noosa Councillor Frank Pardon was mentioned in the Maroochydore District Court on Wednesday 20 March.

Cr Frank Pardon has been charged with six counts of indecent treatment of a child under 16.

The alleged incidents took place in the mid-1990’s prior to Cr Pardon being elected to the Noosa Council in 1997.

Police said the 67-year-old has been charged with historical indecent treatment offences after an investigation by detectives from the Noosa Child Protection Investigation Unit.

Solicitor Butler R.D. appeared in the District Court via phone-link on behalf of Cr Pardon, with the matter previously being adjourned so that further medical testing and investigations could entail.

“Our doctor is located in Sydney but because of the nature of the matter I think it will be best that he appears in person for the trial,” Mr Butler said.

“The other thing is the experts have not yet had the chance to liaise.”

Judge Long S.C. said the next step will be communication between both parties to figure out whether two full days will be needed for the trial in court.

The matter was adjourned to the next call over, with Judge Long urging both parties to look at the date for the next mention to be on the week starting Monday 6 May, as it is the earliest date available and the most convenient.
