Police allegedly mistake prescription drug for MDMA

Tomas Farrell appeared in the Noosa Magistrates Court on Tuesday 19 March after being charged with possessing dangerous drugs, although he believed the police were simply mistaken.

Mr Farrell calmly told the court that what police believed to be MDMA was actually a prescription drug that he kept in his wallet.

“I understand why the police mistook my prescription drug for MDMA as it is an orange pill which may look similar,” Mr Farrell said.

“I have the prescription from the doctor right here and I’m happy for it to be tested.”

Magistrate Haydn Stjernqvist responded to Mr Farrell’s claims saying, “I just get the sense that he might be right.”

Police are sending the drugs away for testing.
