Injured boy and climber airlifted

A primary school aged boy has been airlifted from Landsborough in a critical condition, after a serious vehicle and pedestrian incident, a Lifeflight spokesperson said.

The Sunshine Coast-based LifeFlight aeromedical crew was tasked at 4.10pm on 18 April.

The helicopter landed on the road near the scene.

The LifeFlight critical care doctor and Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) flight paramedic worked together with local QAS paramedics to treat the patient for head and facial injuries, a spokesperson said.

He was flown to Queensland Children’s Hospital .

In another incident the following day, the Sunshine Coast-based Lifeflight service winched a climber off a mountain, after he fell.

It’s believed the man, aged in his 20s, fell around 20 metres and was injured.

The rescue chopper was tasked to the Glass House mountains at 10:31am.

Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) paramedics and Queensland Fire Department (QFD) personnel were on scene treating the patient prior to the helicopter arriving.

The LifeFlight rescue crewman and QAS flight paramedic were winched down to further assist the patient who had suffered head and limb injuries.

They were winched back into the helicopter and the patient was flown to Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital for further treatment.
