Dolphins gains and losses

Under 17 Colts

With three rounds remaining and their last regular home game, Noosa was excited to display some champagne rugby. However, the fresh-faced USC side brought their best. The game was a real arm wrestle with Noosa finally coming away with an 8-5 win. A rolling maul try scored by Jack Murray and a penalty goal from co-captain Reon Fortington brought us over the finish line. Domino’s Pizza player of the match went to Darcy Carroll for his work around the field and his several line steals, including three on Noosa’s five-metre line. The Noosa U17 Colts will play Caloundra in Round 10 on Friday 2 Oct. This game will decide who secures the minor premiership.

Under 13s

The Under 13s played two half games this week back on home-ground territory. We had a ripper of a first game defeating Grammar 19-5, with the boys practising up on some new positions and showing off their skills. The second game proved to be a bit tougher and we were defeated by Maroochydore 7-19. Ben pulled off an amazing breakaway scoring our only try for the game, topping it off with a conversion. Congratulations to Josh for receiving the Dominos Pizza player of the match, Tom P for claiming forward of the day and Max for back of the day.

Under 10s

By Alex BinghamIt was a well-played game by the under-10 Fins on Saturday, sadly losing 20-5 to Maroochy even though the players tried their best with rucks, lineouts and scrums. At halftime they were down 10-0 and in the second half they needed to get back in the game. Ishaka Morgan ran 80 metres down to the five-metre line and by then every player was trying their best to push the team. Cody Monkley enjoyed some good runs and was getting closer for the team. Then Gus Alty came and scored a try in a tackle. It was not converted. Domino’s Pizza player of the match goes to Ashley Eller for a terrific game.Under-10 Reds tried their hardest to win on Saturday but lost 21-0 to Grammar. Jack Shaw, Bryce Bawden and Harrison Perkins had some great runs and tackles in the first and second half. It was 0-0 at halftime, Grammar came in with the first try and converted. The Reds showed amazing defence, but they could not stop Grammar’s second try which was converted to make it 14-0. In the last minutes of the game Grammar went straight through the Reds defence, despite Jacob Kain coming in with a try-saving tackle Grammar still got over the line. Domino’s Pizza players of the match went to Flynn Clarke and Jacob Kain. Well done boys.

Under 9s

With the Dolphins short of players, we borrowed under-7 Ben McCready to fill in. Ben didn’t just make up the numbers, he got involved from the starting whistle and made a great contribution which led to him being named Domino’s Pizza player of the match. Thanks Ben. Brothers were a tough opposition and were strong at the breakdown. Our Dolphins defended strongly to hold them out. Great defence from all the team including Lewis, Cormac , Will M and Mac. When we did have the ball, great ball skills, strong running and some razzle dazzle led to tries from Will S, Jack, Luke, Callan and Matty. Thanks again for all the great support from the parents. Have a great holiday. There is no training or game on 26 September. See you back for the next game on 3 October. Venue to be confirmed on our Facebook page.
