After nearly two years as the head of fundraising and partnerships at Katie Rose Cottage Hospice, Leigh McCready is bidding farewell to her colleagues and embarking on a new chapter in her career.
Leigh has announced her decision to run for a seat on Noosa Council, hoping to serve the broader Noosa community and represent the interests of its residents.
Under her leadership, Katie Rose Cottage experienced significant growth and success in its fundraising efforts.
She spearheaded the development of two signature events, the Katie Rose Forget-me-not Gala and the Gather and Graze on the Green, both of which were praised by chief executive officer John Gabrielson for their uniqueness and creativity.
These events not only raised crucial funds for the hospice but also increased awareness of the vital work done by the hospice in the community.
In addition to events, Leigh played a pivotal role in attracting local organisations and individuals to partner with Katie Rose Cottage.
These partnerships, including with Priest Jewellers, Noosa Acres, Suter Smith Cleine, Madill Motor Group, the Rossi/Whitbread family and Noosa Dolphins Rugby Club have flourished, providing ongoing support to the hospice.
John expressed his admiration for Leigh’s contributions during her tenure at Katie Rose Cottage.
“Leigh was central to attracting many organisations and individuals based in our community to Katie Rose Cottage Hospice. These new supporters continue to support us in many ways,” he said.
“These partnerships forged continue to be successful and rewarding.”
John also commended her work ethic, describing her as “willing, very keen, extraordinarily energetic, always motivated to help, and genuinely listen to all perspectives”.
As she embarks on her political journey, John wished her well on behalf of the team of employees and volunteers at the hospice, recognising her potential to make a positive impact on Noosa Council.
“I wish her well going forward. She would be an asset to Council and I know would work tirelessly to serve the community and endeavour to represent all.”
