Festivities all over town

This weekend the Noosa Hinterland town of Pomona will host three days of music, fun, and entertainment over 26, 28 and 28 April.

Most of the action will take place at the historic Majestic Theatre, but the Pomona Railway Gallery is also have a special art market, Art in the Paddock, as well as other displays, food and entertainment.

The Saturday Pomona Country Market will be extended until 2.00pm for special entertainment. The market’s free musical morning will be started on the stage at Stan Topper Park, at 9.00am, with the Noosa Concert Band, then at 10am The Great Busk-Off will get underway, with buskers from near and far competing for a host of prizes including vouchers from Music Noosa and also from Shake It Up Music in Nambour. In addition Rehearsal and Studio time at Jam Pot Studios can be won by the most successful busking act.

Buskers will be performing all over town during the festival.

Sean from Pomona Paint and Panel will be displaying his beautiful vintage car collection at the top of the park on Saturday.

At the Majestic Theatre the noon silent film, and other entertainment acts will be filmed with the ABC TV show The Mix’s Zok Nyste.

A terrific array of bands are set to perform at the Majestic throughout the three days, while the oasis garden, with its screen displaying these performances, for those who prefer to watch from the great outdoors, will also be open for food and drinks.

There will be workshops for Ukulele players, and also smudge-stick making, on Saturday morning on the Oasis garden.

On Sunday morning the Oasis garden will be the focal point for a great breakfast cooked by Vince, with Captain Tricko performing from 9-10am, Poetry with Ian MacKay from 10-11, and Niq Reefman from 11-12 noon. From 12-1pm the amazing Herb Fenn will present cutting edge experimental: music and entertainment using the physics of everyday objects.

Food will be available at the Majestic through the festival, and the bar will be open from noon ’til late each day. As Friday’s entertainment does not start until 12 noon, tickets on that day are at a reduced price.
