Foundation for community

If you are feeling philanthropic between now and 30 June, the Noosa Community Foundation can double your money.

The Foundation has a very generous benefactor who has promised to match, dollar for dollar, contributions made up to $50,000, so theoretically another $100,000 could be raised to add to the $193,000 already donated during Foundation’s first eighteen months. Of that total, $121,000 has already been distributed to a range of very local causes, including several groups supporting financially disadvantaged school students, Sunshine Butterflies and Landcare.

Originally the brainchild of the very philanthropic local resident Scott Williams, this is the sort of charity where you know every single cent goes to the needy: totally pro bono, no overheads, no business lunches, “not even a cup of coffee,” says one of the three founding directors, Clare Cartwright.

Now running the law firm established by her equally altruistic father Bob, Clare is joined on the Board by of course Scott Williams and also Justin Morgan, who has spent most of his working life in the service of iconic global charity Oxfam.

As evidenced by the $193,000 already raised, some very generous local residents have taken the Foundation to their hearts, delighted to know their donations are going directly to those in need, now, and in Noosa Shire.

If you would like to join them, the webpage for the Matching Donation Drive is : finyear.raiselysite.com and the email address for the Foundation is : reception@noosa.foundation .
