The Independent Member for Noosa Sandy Bolton MP has continued her pledge to distribute as much of her office operating budget back into the community as possible.
Projects funded and assistance provided to local not-for-profit groups in the latest Noosa MP Quick Start grant program included for needed infrastructure, research, education, equipment and business supports, all the way to sporting kits for local youngsters.
“Community groups ignite passions, address genuine needs and connect residents to wonderful new friends. Thank you to all who applied, with more applications received than ever before,” Ms Bolton said.
The 2025 funding program outlined provision for applications to be made for a small helping hand grant or a larger project or initiative. Tewantin Tennis Club successfully applied to purchase equipment to revitalise their tennis courts.
“With the damp conditions over the past couple of years, mould on the carpet tennis courts has become a major problem. We are very appreciative of the funding from Sandy which will ease budgetary pressure on the club. The surface of the courts will now last longer,” Jason Reynolds said, on behalf of the group.
Rise & Thrive are implementing their Better Solutions campaign.
“Through our work at high schools in the Noosa shire, I hear firsthand how domestic and family violence impacts young people at home. Without intervention, these patterns persist, affecting families and the broader community. This campaign will equip local businesses, schools, hospitals, and community centres with resources to recognise warning signs and ask the right questions,” founder Janelle Parsons said.
Tide and Place are purchasing equipment to assist in their survey and monitoring efforts on the Noosa River.
“This funding will allow us to better understand the waterway and provide accurate insights on key issues of interest to stakeholders and the community, with the new equipment intended to assist in conducting vessel and infrastructure surveys, ecological surveys and monitoring, marine debris and waste monitoring, and more,” Tide and Place representative Juanita Bloomfield said.
State Members of Parliament like Sandy have a set amount of funds allocated to operate their electorate offices for the purchase of equipment, mail outs, community event hosting as well as other ‘day to day’ expenses. MPs can also use these funds for advertising on billboards, newspapers and radio, which Sandy has never supported as she believes where possible these funds should be used to benefit residents rather than the office bearer.
