Rotary makes a difference in Noosa

Over the past month the Rotary Club of Noosa Heads has made significant contributions to bodies within the Noosa Shire as part of their ethos of making a difference to the community.

Club President Geoff Bone said they have fundraised around $18,000 in the past month, which includes the placement of six additional defibrillators along the Noosa River foreshore.

“It is also including our commitment to work with SunnyKids Inc and Brisbane Broncos, with an additional Mentoring Through Sport program at a local high school, and a recent donation to the Salvation Army,“ Geoff said.

As a club committed to ways of supporting issues within the local community, members are actively engaged in the Noosa Come Together Festival that will be held over June 5 and 6.

The club will be heavily involved in supporting the Noosa Busking Championships as they have in past years.

Club member Tony Oxley said, “We look like we will have a record number of entrants this year for the busking on June 5.“

“It is a great opportunity for locals to be entertained along the Noosa Foreshore by very talented people.“

The club is also investigating the establishment of a local Post Traumatic Stress Disorder support group that will be self supporting.

Club members Bob Birkhead and Kevin Rabeling are leading this investigation together with professionals in the community.

Geoff said, “We are about being active and making things happen despite our small numbers. However we would welcome locals to consider joining us on our journey of change.“

Details of the club and its activities can be found out their website www.rotarynoosaheads.org.au
